Cecil “Peanut” Daniels (WSP)

Cecil Peanut Daniels is a special kind of musician. His unique attributes go far beyond the fact that he plays multiple instruments or has lived in various parts of the U.S. throughout his life. Peanut is a musical diplomat who carries a positive attitude and lust for new experiences into any musical situation he encounters. Though his isn’t a household name in many circles, those who are familiar with Widespread Panic’s performances in San Francisco know his midi-saxophone well. His friendship with Domingo ‘Sunny’ Ortiz led to those guest appearances, and has served as a springboard for Peanut’s other musical pursuits as well.
P-Nut’s favorite instrument is his Casio MIDI-Horn which allows him to play many of the instruments he loves such as saxophone, keyboard, vibraphone any many other sounds and effects to the audience’s amazement. His agility on the horn and vast musical background allows him to collaborate with different musicians from all genres and styles of music and his golden ear for the vibe of any particular song allows him to adapt and excel in any musical environment. P-Nut is also one of the most exciting drummers youíll ever see and normally works some percussion into his sets.
P-Nut’s inspired solos over danceable grooves are what the band is all about, taking the listener on a highly energetic and danceable ride with influences ranging from jazz, funk and soul to Latin and African rhythms.
P-Nut’s latest project has him teaming up with Blackdog from Nederland, CO, after recording on their new album, For the Sake of the Groove. Blackdog has been leaving audiences in awe with sheer musicianship and stage presence. This is no ordinary Jazz Ensemble! Incorporating any and all musical genres from funk, to smokin’ blues, to calypso ballads, sometimes all in one song! Blackdog’s tenure on the music circuit has brought the band to open for or share the bill with such greats as Taj Mahal, Derek Trucks, Phish, Blues Traveler, Mick Taylor, Duke Robillard, James Cotton, and Cracker among others.
