The Autumn Film

“Like a post-collegiate Fiona Apple jamming with Snow Patrol Al-Attas and her band serve up a violin-rich, piano-drenched sincerity topped off with a voice that’s wise and heartbroken beyond its years” (The Onion).
The Autumn Film formed in August 2006. Although a young band, they are a group of seasoned musicians. Their release Safe & Sound (January 2007), produced by Robbie Seay (EMI) “is an emotive and mature work by an artist exploring the challenges, heartaches, and successes of life. Full of reflections on vulnerability, loss, recovery, and survival, one gets the sense that the composer has experienced real human growth and is now ready to emerge. Leading her very capable band on keyboards, Tifah Al-Attas is accompanied by guitarist Reid Phillips, drummer Dann Stockton, bassist Juli Royster, and violinist Aubrea Alford” (J. Jacoby, ColoradoMusicBuzz).
With a captivating sound, The Autumn Film’s live show grabs attention as the Westword’s Dave Herrera writes, “[The Autumn Film] turned in a stellar performance as polished as it was enchanting. With her jet-black pigtails and black plastic frames, Tifah Al-Attas, the band’s namesake and leader, has a quaint, Mary Katherine Gallagher look that belies her majestic voice. Her mates, meanwhile, exhibit masterful dynamic sensibilities and have a commanding on-stage presence.” Influences from Patty Griffin, Radiohead, and Death Cab for Cutie marry together making The Autumn Film who they are…unique but accessible.
