Waffle House Funk is a 4-piece instrumental jazz/funk/fusion group out of Boulder, Colorado. The band was first formed by Grant Rudd (Bass) and Jeremy Mohney (Saxaphone) in the spring of 2007 after an awesome jam with a few friends, and Waffle House Funk has been funking hard ever since! With the addition of Cord Drake (Drums) in the summer of 2007, and Stephen Thurston (Electric Piano) in the summer of 2009, the band was complete. Waffle House Funk has merged the sounds of old school swing, the funky grooves of modern fusion and the speed and finesse of today’s jazz to create their own unique sound that keeps people coming back for more. Waffle House funk draws their inspiration from The Meters, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Victor Wooten, Tower of Power, Weather Report, Red Hot Chili Peppers and anything else that is funky.
As one of the younger bands on the Boulder/Denver music scene, Waffle House Funk is attracting attention from many artists and venues playing at the Fox Theater, Oriental Theater, DNote, St Julien Hotel, and many others.
